PiLogic has closed a $4 million seed round to expand its footprint in the aerospace and defense industries. Scout Ventures and Seraphim Space led the round, with significant participation from Sovereign’s Capital and investment from Flex Capital, FN Fund, and angel investor Gokul Rajaram.
PiLogic builds exact AI models that incorporate first engineering principles and expert knowledge directly into the decision-making process. The approach does not require huge data sets or expensive hardware such as GPUs, and it allows exact AI to run on remote devices like satellites without additional compute resources.
The company’s first two models address challenges in the defense and space industries: a radar model that tracks and predicts objects in 3D space, and an electrical power system diagnostics model that lets satellite operators predict the health state of components from onboard sensor data, on the ground or on the satellite itself.
“We are incredibly excited about the potential of exact AI to transform industries at the point of need, where precision is critical,” said Johannes Waldstein, Founder and CEO of PiLogic. “This funding will allow us to scale our team and expand our platform, bringing our innovative technology to more commercial and government clients.”
“PiLogic’s approach to high-stakes decision making on the edge has the potential to transform the space industry,” said Andre Ronsoehr, Partner at Seraphim Space. “It is a sector still rife with rules-based systems and humans in the loop, often for the lack of viable alternatives.”
PiLogic is using the funds to grow its core team, build out its product suite, and support early customers with mission-critical challenges in aerospace and defense.
PiLogic builds Exact AI — exact probabilistic reasoning for mission-critical aerospace and defense. Its models, Manifest (satellite diagnostics) and Resolve (radar tracking), compute correct, explainable answers in milliseconds, onboard, on existing hardware, with no training data and no hallucination. PiLogic works with the Air Force Research Laboratory under a two-year Cooperative Research and Development Agreement and is backed by Scout Ventures, Seraphim Space, Sovereign's Capital, Flex Capital, and FN Fund.
